MALAD GORGE |
Malad Gorge is a cool stop along the I-84 in between the towns of Bliss and Wendell. It does not take long to see, as there is a freeway exit located just east of the gorge, and a paved road taking you right up to it. From the parking area, a bridge will take you across the gorge, and down a short, paved path to a viewing area where you can see the Devils Washbowl. This a cool waterfall located below the freeway that was running really high when we visited in March of 2017. While the scenery is nice, its location along the side of a freeway takes some of the peacefulness away from it. If you want a longer walk, there is a dirt path leading from the viewing area further down the canyon. From the parking area, there is also a paved loop road taking you further down the gorge for more views of the canyon. There are several viewing area located along the road, which also passes by a large park which includes a restroom, covered picnic tables and grills.
