CAULDRON LINN

Cauldron Linn is a nice waterfall located along the Snake River, that I had only heard about a few months before visiting. It is located not too far off the I-84 freeway near the town of Murtaugh. You will need to travel down some dirt roads to reach it, which are all easily passable until the final drop down to the river. We were able to make it all the way to the parking area next to the falls in a Mazda 5, but some people were parking above and walking the last half-mile or so down to the river just to be safe.

Cauldron Linn was very crowded when we visited, as we there during spring break in 2017, when the Snake River was running extremely high. Nearly every space in the parking area was taken. Everyone wanted to see the extra high river flows. It was impressive. There was even a group of kayakers paddling over the falls into the river while we were there. I'm sure this area is empty most of the year, as it is not real well know or advertised, but it's also probably a lot less impressive during times of low water flow. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a short a detour from the I-84 if you are there during a time of year when the Snake River has a healthy flow.
